Sacred Heart has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Xavier College Prep Gators in a holiday battle at 9:00 a.m. on Monday at. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Wednesday, Sacred Heart took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 85-15 victory over Seneca. With Sacred Heart ahead 50-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Sacred Heart got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reagan Bender out in front who scored 11 points along with four steals. The contest was Bender's eighth in a row with at least ten points. ZaKiyah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Xavier College Prep put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Chandler as Xavier College Prep made off with a 68-42 win. Given Xavier College Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Chandler is ranked 31st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sacred Heart pushed their record up to 8-0 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points per game. As for Xavier College Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
