This week's postseason action didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Pearl-Cohn got a 41 - 17 win over Fairview last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Xavier A. shepherd. A. shepherd earned three touchdowns and 134 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed A. shepherd among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Brentwood Academy (1st in the power rankings) and McCallie (5th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Brentwood Academy had all the answers against McCallie, winning 28 - 6. Brentwood Academy made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (14 consecutive games). Greeneville got a somewhat close 35 - 31 victory over Anderson County. As a result, Greeneville rose two spots in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Maryville (3rd in the power rankings) and Oakland (2nd). Both teams have their heads held high after landslide victories against their previous opponents. Oakland and Maryville both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Oakland with 12 and Maryville with ten), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
