The Alameda Pirates suffered their biggest defeat since January 4th on Thursday. They suffered a rough 63-41 defeat at the hands of Kennedy. Alameda has struggled against Kennedy recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Camilo Diocares, who scored 14 points along with four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diocares has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerardo Alvarado, who scored seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Zink, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds. Noah Herrera was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Alameda's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Kennedy, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alameda will face off against D'Evelyn at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. D'Evelyn presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Alameda in Colorado (D'Evelyn is ranked 161st, while Alameda is ranked 324th). As for Kennedy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Denver North at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th.
