Aurora hadn't done well against Highland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Greenmen blew past the Hornets 3-0. The win was nothing new for the Greenmen as they're now sitting on four straight.
Aurora didn't let Highland take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-22, 26-24.
Aubrey Verdova paced Aurora's offense, picking up 13 kills. Verdova got some help from Kaylie Liepins and her 25 assists. Liepins also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Presley Courtad, racking up two apiece.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carley Niese, who had 15 digs. Niese has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. Ava Andrews was another key player, getting 12 digs and one assist.
Aurora's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Highland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
