Williston-Elko is 2-8 against Denmark-Olar since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Williston-Elko Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Denmark-Olar Vikings at 8:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Williston-Elko can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They really took it to Horse Creek Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-41 win at home. The victory was just what Williston-Elko needed coming off of a 71-48 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Denmark-Olar entered their tilt with Hunter-Kinard-Tyler with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Denmark-Olar came out on top against Hunter-Kinard-Tyler by a score of 44-32 on Friday. Given Denmark-Olar's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Hunter-Kinard-Tyler is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tykeen Ross was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Robert Bovain, who scored three points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
The win got Williston-Elko back to even at 1-1. As for Denmark-Olar, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
Williston-Elko suffered a grim 65-41 defeat to Denmark-Olar in their previous matchup back in January. Can Williston-Elko avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
