Caurus Academy put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Our Lady of the Sun Academy by a score of 51-44. Given Caurus Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Our Lady of the Sun Academy is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Our Lady of the Sun Academy had strong showings from Joseph Reiss, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Brady Webster, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Reiss scored a full 36.4% of Our Lady of the Sun Academy's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Caurus Academy pushed their record up to 5-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Our Lady of the Sun Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Coincidentally, Caurus Academy and Our Lady of the Sun Academy will both be playing Verde Valley the next time they take the court. Caurus Academy will host Verde Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Our Lady of the Sun Academy will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
