The John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Lowellville 72-22 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-16.
Leading John F. Kennedy Catholic to victory were Ava Darney and Didi Ryan. Darney shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Ryan scored 22 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. The game was Ryan's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Gianna Pompelia was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Lowellville's loss came despite strong showings from Morgan Lewis and Serinna Tych. Lewis scored eight points, while Tych scored five points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lowellville struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The win was the third in a row for John F. Kennedy Catholic, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Lowellville, they bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John F. Kennedy Catholic will take on Rootstown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Rootstown's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Lowellville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Western Reserve at 6:15 p.m. Western Reserve is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
