Florence barely beat Coolidge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gophers put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 24-8 win on Friday. The Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.
Brea Cortinas made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-7 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Florence got a massive performance out of Paisley Pine, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Betty Ramirez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Florence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
