It was a good run, but the Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 54-37 bruising from Maryland School for the Deaf. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Marie Philip came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Massachusetts, while Maryland School for the Deaf is ranked 121st in Maryland).
Several Galloping Ghosts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chloe Martin, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Solina Rampino, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds.
Marie Philip's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2. As for Maryland School for the Deaf, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3.
Marie Philip will take on Rhode Island School for the Deaf at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maryland School for the Deaf will be home for the holidays to greet Loudoun County HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
