Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Barnwell walked away with it. They secured a 31-25 W over Marion on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Barnwell.
Barnwell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Sturkie, who picked up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Barnwell also got a significant boost from Jordan Peeples, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 108 yards.
Meanwhile, Oceanside Collegiate Academy came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Woodland 49-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, who have now won six games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Their wins bumped Barnwell to 8-4 and Oceanside Collegiate Academy to 9-2.
Barnwell beat Oceanside Collegiate Academy 42-31 when the teams last played back in November of 2019. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Oceanside Collegiate Academy's Walker Rhue, who picked up 158 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
