Basketball Recap: Voyager Academy Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Voyager Academy extended their road winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Will Cameron. The Voyager Academy Vikings walked away with a 68-61 win over the Apex Cougars on Monday thanks in part to Cameron, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Smith, who posted four points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. He is becoming a predictor of Voyager Academy's success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 6-2 (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

When it comes to explaining why Apex lost, don't look at Zaelyn White. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 19 on his way to 26 points and five steals. With that strong performance, White is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Scott, who posted eight points.

Voyager Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Apex, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Voyager Academy will head out to challenge Roxboro Community at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. Roxboro Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season. As for Apex, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-47 defeat against Knightdale on the 3rd.
