Even though the Sahuarita Mustangs scored an imposing 65 points on Thursday, the Walden Grove Red Wolves still came out on top. Walden Grove snuck past Sahuarita with a 71-65 win. The score was all tied up 35-35 at the break, but Walden Grove was the better team in the second half.
Walden Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was MarQuez Tyree out in front who scored 31 points. Tyree is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ashton Romney, who scored 21 points.
The win got Walden Grove back to even at 10-10. As for Sahuarita, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.
Walden Grove will look to defend their home court on Monday against Sahuarita at 7:00 p.m. Sahuarita has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
