On Tuesday, the Riverton Silverwolves faced the Bingham Miners in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Riverton skirted past Bingham 68-65. The victory was just what Riverton needed coming off of a 69-47 defeat in their prior match.
Ben Barrus was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Zach Edwards, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Bingham lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Stockton Tueller, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Tueller is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke West, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Bingham smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverton only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Riverton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which lines up perfectly with their 15-5 record this season. As for Bingham, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverton will square off against Herriman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Riverton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Bingham, they will head out on the road to square off against Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bingham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
