After a string of three wins, the Covington Buccs's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 40-33 to Miami East. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Covington has scored all season.
Miami East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maryn Gross led the charge by scoring 15 points along with two steals. Gross has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckayah Musselman, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Covington's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for Miami East, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covington will take on Anna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anna is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Miami East, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Northridge at 1:30 p.m. Northridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Miami East is ranked 30th).
