The Liberty Lancers took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They took down Douglas County 57-38. That's another feather in the cap for Liberty, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jacie Bunck was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 26 points along with 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Gardner, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Douglas County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sofia Baldessari, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Sophia Hummel was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Douglas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Douglas County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Brighton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Monday.
