Moose Jernigan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lakeside got a massive performance out of Emily Jones, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Jones has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Raleah Harris, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
15 must be Castor's lucky number: they beat Lakeview with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Tigers didn't even let the Gators on the board, marking the Tigers' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matches by 13 runs or more so far this season.
Caroline Bolyer looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Malorie Cooper was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Veda Keel, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
Lakeside pushed their record up to 27-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Castor, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lakeside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Castor struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Lakeside's way against Castor when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Lakeside made off with a 16-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
