Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Triton Central Tigers proved on Thursday. They walked away with a 53-43 win over Waldron. Given Triton Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Waldron is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Triton Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooklyn Bailey out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Hailey Harris was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Waldron saw an underclassman step up: Grace Fischer scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Fischer scored a full 34.9% of Waldron's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Triton Central and bumps their season record up to 13-3. As for Waldron, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Triton Central is on the road again on Saturday and play against Morristown at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Morristown is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Waldron, they will head out on the road to face off against South Decatur at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
