Basketball Recap: Johnson Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

Johnson Central had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 75-65 victory over the Pike County Central Hawks. This was a revenge game for the Golden Eagles: when they faced off against the Hawks back in January, they had to take a 72-60 loss.

Johnson Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Shepherd, who went 9 for 12 en route to 26 points. The matchup was Shepherd's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Austin Slone, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 21 points and five boards.

Johnson Central's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Pike County Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Johnson Central will head out on the road to challenge Powell County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Johnson Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Powell County likes a good challenge. As for Pike County Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Shelby Valley at 7:30 a.m.
