The Seaside Seagulls won against the Scappoose Indians last Tuesday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. Seaside enjoyed a cozy 54-39 win over Scappoose. Given Seaside's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Scappoose is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Scappoose's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Sprenger, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Sprenger posted two or more blocks. Quinton Olson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Seaside, bringing their record for this year to 9-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Scappoose, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Seaside will head out on the road to take on Marist at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marist is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Scappoose, they will be playing at home against St. Helens at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
