Baseball Recap: Radford Has No Trouble Against Giles

Radford not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Giles Spartans. That's more bragging rights for the Bobcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jackson Johnson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Joyce, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, nine RBI, and three stolen bases. Tanner Rodgers was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Radford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Giles only posted an OBP of .400.

The win got Radford back to even at 1-1. As for Giles, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Radford will host George Wythe at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Giles, they will welcome Galax at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
