Two dominant guards in Jj Davis and Dylan Smith are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mullins Auctioneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Central Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
After a string of four wins, Mullins' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 76-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (60), Mullins still had to take the loss.
Despite their defeat, Mullins saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braden Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Deyon Ford, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 25% better than the opposition, a fact North Central proved on Friday. They came out on top against Buford by a score of 75-65. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Central.
North Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Smith, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Ethan Diles, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diles has scored all season. Kash Bracey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Mullins' loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-7. As for North Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
