The Beaufort Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 58-45 to Patrick Henry Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Beaufort Academy of the 49-37 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Leading Patrick Henry Academy to victory were Lillian Lucas and Laney Futch. Lucas almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists, while Futch dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Futch has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Saquoia Sexton, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Beaufort Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Patrick Henry Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beaufort Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cross at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Cross will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Beaufort Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Holy Trinity Classical Christian at 6:00 p.m. Holy Trinity Classical Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
