The Jacksonville Titans will face off against the West Memphis Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Jacksonville hasn't scored more than a single run for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
Jacksonville lost 15-1 to Greenbrier on Wednesday.
Jacksonville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hazen Hutton, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Memphis). They blew past Nettleton 18-4 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.
Maddox Maloy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. West Memphis is 2-1 when Maloy allows three or fewer earned runs, but 1-18 otherwise. Maloy was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, West Memphis got a massive performance out of Caleb Kuhn, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and two doubles. Kuhn continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cayden Wynn, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
West Memphis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West Memphis' record now sits at 3-19. As for Jacksonville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-18-1.
Jacksonville beat West Memphis 7-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
