The Monticello Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Minisink Valley 34-28. Monticello has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabella Velasquez, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Velasquez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Neails, who scored nine points.
Monticello has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Minisink Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello will take on the Indians at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Minisink Valley, they will play host again and welcome the Dragons, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cornwall Central is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
