The West Carroll Thunder's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 60-16 defeat at the hands of River Ridge/Scales Mound. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Carroll in their matchups with River Ridge/Scales Mound: they've now lost seven in a row.
River Ridge/Scales Mound's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gwen Miller, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Miller posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Wiederholt, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
West Carroll has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.
West Carroll will be playing in front of their home fans against Pearl City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Pearl City is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, they will head out on the road to face off against East Dubuque at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. East Dubuque and River Ridge/Scales Mound are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
