While DeMatha's win against St. Mary's Ryken wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Stags narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Knights 5-3. The Stags haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Michael Candy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four games.

On the hitting side, DeMatha saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Dennis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Zach Perlin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

DeMatha's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeMatha will host Gonzaga at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Stags will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they will be playing at home against Our Lady of Good Counsel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
