This season hasn't been kind to the Innovation Montessori Panthers, who are still winless after their sixth game. They were dealt a 70-36 defeat at the hands of Orangewood Christian on Friday. Innovation Montessori was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.
Innovation Montessori's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Khalid Imran, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and six blocks, and Trevor Thorsen who scored 17 points. The match was Thorsen's third in a row with at least ten points.
Orangewood Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Barber out in front who scored 17 points. Roby McClarnon was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Innovation Montessori bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Orangewood Christian, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Innovation Montessori and Orlando Science will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Orlando Science has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Orangewood Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Crooms Academy at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Crooms Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
