Belgreen and Colbert County are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Colbert County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Belgreen, who comes in off a win.
Belgreen is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over Red Bay on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
Belgreen got a massive performance out of Mackinley Hogan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Hogan posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jemma Moore, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Belgreen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Colbert County has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.69 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against Lauderdale County, falling 10-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Indians have suffered against the Tigers since March 19, 2022.
Hallie Holland and Kylee Holland did some serious damage despite the final result: Hallie scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Kylee went 2-for-4 with one home run. Hallie is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Belgreen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Colbert County, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11-1.
Belgreen came out on top in a nail-biter against Colbert County in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
