The Washburn Millers are taking a road trip to take on the Apple Valley Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Washburn will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Washburn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Camden on Monday as they made off with a 35-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Millers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ellerie Ulfers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one double. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Washburn let Emalyn Streifel and Lynn Austin run wild. Streifel got on base in five of her six plate appearances with six runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Austin got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Streifel continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Caroline Bretl was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Washburn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Apple Valley fell victim to Burnsville and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Blaze by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Keura Roloff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Apple Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Duran, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Washburn has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Apple Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-12 record.
