The Bainbridge Bearcats will head out on the road to square off against the Cairo Syrupmakers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bainbridge comes in on three and Cairo on five.
Last Tuesday, Bainbridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Early County, taking the game 64-53. Bainbridge pushed the score to 53-32 by the end of the third, a deficit Early County cut but never quite recovered from.
Shaw typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Cairo proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 60-53 win over the Raiders.
Cairo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keshen Spence, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Spence hasn't dropped below 16 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Powell, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds.
Bainbridge pushed their record up to 15-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Cairo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Bainbridge came up short against Cairo in their previous meeting back in January, falling 61-56. Can Bainbridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
