Basketball Recap: 14 Straight Road Wins for Greenfield-Central

Greenfield-Central extended their road winning streak to 14 games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Braylon Mullins. The Greenfield-Central Cougars secured a 60-55 W over the Mt. Vernon Marauders on Saturday thanks in part to Mullins, who almost dropped a double-double on 34 points and nine rebounds. His evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Boston Willard, who posted a point in addition to ten assists and five steals. That's the most assists he has posted since back in February of 2024.

Mt. Vernon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Luke Ertel, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Ertel is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tanner Teschendorf, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 14 points and six boards.

Greenfield-Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Mt. Vernon, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2.

When Greenfield-Central and Mt. Vernon next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Greenfield-Central will try to stop New Castle's three-game winning streak when the meet at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Mt. Vernon will try to stop Avon's 11-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
