Plano East is 2-8 against Marcus since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Plano East Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Marcus Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Plano East's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
Plano East's last game on Tuesday was all defense as neither team scored a goal. They and Plano West finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.
Meanwhile, Marcus stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Plano 3-0. Given Marcus' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Plano is ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marcus was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Mason Einspahr and
Aidan Henle, who scored all three of Marcus' goals. The pair have combined for a total of seven so far this season.
Plano East's draw gives them a new season record of 4-3-4. As for Marcus, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2-1.
Plano East came up short against Marcus in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, falling 3-1. Can Plano East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
