Loris and Dillon are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Lions will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dillon will be up against a hot Loris team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Lions' way against Waccamaw on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-2 victory. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jessie Cartrette and Bellamie Gore were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Cartrette pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gore tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Cartrette has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cartrette went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Gore went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Loris got a massive performance out of Caitie Black, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Black a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie McCoy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
Loris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Dillon got the win against Lamar on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1.
Kanyla Tanksley was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Wallace, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Loris' record is now 17-3. As for Dillon, their record now sits at 9-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Loris has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dillon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Loris beat Dillon 11-7 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
