Softball Recap: Frontier Wins Going Away Against Bridgeport

Frontier barely beat Bridgeport the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 win on Wednesday. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaycee Berentz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keeley Barrows, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kate Congleton, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Frontier's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Bridgeport, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Frontier has already played their next matchup, a 14-7 win against Cameron on the 24th. As for Bridgeport, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Shadyside on the 28th.
