Baseball Recap: Hondo Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Hondo won the last time they faced Natalia and things went their way on Thursday too. The Owls put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 16-2 win. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Kolby Gear and Mason Barr did most of the damage at the plate: Gear went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Barr went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Gear has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Quintanilla, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Hondo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Natalia only posted an OBP of .263.

Hondo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Natalia, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-17.

Looking ahead, Hondo will square off against Cotulla at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Natalia, they will challenge Lytle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
