The Independence 76ers will be playing at home against the Watkins Memorial Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Independence put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 54-30 margin over Walnut Ridge.
Independence can attribute much of their success to Donte Truss, who rushed for 50 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 141 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Nequan Harris, who gained 93 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Watkins Memorial were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 31-6 walloping at the hands of Granville. Watkins Memorial was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Independence's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points per game. As for Watkins Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
