The Foothill Falcons will head out to challenge the Mojave Rattlers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Foothill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Foothill will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Desert Oasis, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Falcons came out on top against the Diamondbacks by a score of 12-9 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Jazzy Hall was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Makenzie Whitefield also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact: Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Falcons are 3-1-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mojave and Chaparral meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Rattlers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cowboys a 16-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rattlers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Emiko-Lin Kalani made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kalani was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Aurora Scoggins was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Jadin Broadnax was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Foothill's record now sits at 4-8-1. As for Mojave, their record is now 4-6.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Foothill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Mojave struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Foothill took their victory against Mojave in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rattlers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
