Baseball Recap: Schalick Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Schalick came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Bridgeton Bulldogs as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Cole Hartley was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Lucas D'Agostino looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Ricky Watts was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Wyatt Cushane also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Schalick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Schalick's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. As for Bridgeton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-20-1.

Coming up, Schalick will be playing at home against Salem at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bridgeton, they will welcome Wildwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
