Softball Recap: Montville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Montville had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Plainfield Panthers with a sharp 11-0 win on Friday. Considering the Wolves have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Daniewicz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jainna Lesniewski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Natalie Lutyen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Montville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Montville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Plainfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Montville will head out to square off against Wheeler at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Plainfield, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Stonington at 1:00 p.m. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
