After flying high against Joliet Catholic  last Saturday, Saint Viator came back down to earth. The Saint Viator Lions took  a  43-28 bruising from the Carmel Corsairs on Wednesday. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Corsairs earlier this season, when they won  38-30.
 Bella Gounaris was Saint Viator's leading scorer, having posted eight points.   Kyli Ziebka held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.   Maggie Ratzki took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Saint Viator's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Carmel, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-14.
 Saint Viator and Carmel could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage  in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Saint Viator (ranked 120th) will meet Marian Catholic (ranked 31st)  at 2:30  p.m.  on Saturday. Meanwhile,  Carmel will  face off against  Nazareth Academy  at 7:00  p.m.  on February 5th down  130 places (136 vs. 6).
