Rogers is 2-8 against Lexington since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Rogers will face off against Lexington at 6:00 p.m. Rogers will be strutting in after a win while Lexington will be coming in after a loss.
Rogers took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over C.H. Yoe. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Ariela Gutierrez and Kenzie Ulicnik did most of the damage at the plate: Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Ulicnik went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most runs Gutierrez has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kinley Caldwell, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Lexington fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Thrall on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Taylor Akin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lexington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teal Brockenbush, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Rogers' victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Lexington, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rogers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Lexington struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rogers suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Lexington when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can Rogers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
