The Potter-Dix Coyotes had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Arthur County on Friday and snuck past 63-60. The victory was just what Potter-Dix needed coming off of a 85-38 defeat in their prior game.
Potter-Dix was led to victory by Landon Gasseling and Brayden Kasten. Gasseling scored 23 points, while Kasten scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gasseling has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxen Buettenback, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Arthur County still got an impressive performance from Talan Storer, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Kane Delatour was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Arthur County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Potter-Dix only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Potter-Dix's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Arthur County, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14.
Potter-Dix will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hay Springs at 5:00 p.m. on February 16th. Hopefully Hay Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Arthur County, they will play host again and welcome Wauneta-Palisade, where tip off is scheduled for TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Arthur County is ranked 262nd, while Wauneta-Palisade is ranked 275th).
