The Rushford-Peterson Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season. They blew past LeRoy-Ostrander 77-32 on the road. Given Rushford-Peterson's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while LeRoy-Ostrander is ranked 396th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, LeRoy-Ostrander saw an underclassman step up: Miranda Nagel dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Nagel is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Benita Nolt, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, LeRoy-Ostrander were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. This was only their seventh loss (out of seven games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Rushford-Peterson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for LeRoy-Ostrander, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Rushford-Peterson will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 7:15 p.m. As for LeRoy-Ostrander, they will head out on the road to face off against Lyle/Pacelli at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
