Osceola is a perfect 10-0 against Hollins since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Osceola Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Hollins Royals at 7:00 p.m. Osceola is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, Osceola made easy work of Seminole and carried off a 13-2 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 11 runs or more this season.
Osceola got a massive performance out of Theresa Diez, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Gigi Dorwin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Osceola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seminole only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Hollins suffered their biggest defeat since April 4, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against Largo, falling 12-6. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aubri Cofield and Gianna Close did some serious damage despite the final result: Cofield scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Close scored two runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Cofield a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Ava Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Osceola pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hollins, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Hollins' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Osceola has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Hollins, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Osceola's sizable advantage in that area, Hollins will need to find a way to close that gap.
Osceola took their victory against Hollins in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Osceola since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
