Even though Gloucester County Tech have not done well against the Gloucester City Lions recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Gloucester County Tech escaped with a win against Gloucester City by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. The victory was all the more spectacular given Gloucester County Tech's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Gloucester City is ranked 81st).
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keegan Cohan, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Ryan James was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
The win was the third in a row for Gloucester County Tech, bringing their record for this year to 5-3. As for Gloucester City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Gloucester County Tech will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Maple Shade at 5:30 p.m. As for Gloucester City, they will head out on the road to face off against Audubon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
