The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Trinity Catholic 62-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as P.K. Yonge also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
P.K. Yonge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashlyn Young, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Young is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Powers, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
P.K. Yonge's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Trinity Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
P.K. Yonge will be playing in front of their home fans against Newberry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Newberry is ranked 118th, while P.K. Yonge is ranked 100th). As for Trinity Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wildwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday.
