Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Cotter's Winning Streak

If Cotter was riding high fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Green Forest last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cotter Warriors took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calico Rock Pirates on Monday. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Gracyn Jackson put in work no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jadyn Tucker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Cotter suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-3. As for Calico Rock, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Cotter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-3 defeat against Izard County on the 18th. As for Calico Rock, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-5 loss against Cave City on the 18th.
