Basketball Game Preview: New Lexington Panthers vs. Coshocton Redskins

New Lexington is 7-1 against Coshocton since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The New Lexington Panthers will head out to face off against the Coshocton Redskins at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

New Lexington is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Nelsonville-York on Friday. New Lexington took down Nelsonville-York 60-42. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Buckeyes are ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Isaiah Stephens, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Stephens, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Coshocton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 65-44 win. The Redskins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

New Lexington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Coshocton, their record is now 9-1.

Things could have been worse for New Lexington, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-47 loss to Coshocton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can New Lexington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
