This season hasn't been kind to the St. Edward's Pirates, who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a hard 52-38 fall against Pine on Monday. St. Edward's was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pine apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
St. Edward's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nate Sparkman, who scored 13 points. The contest was Sparkman's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Cody Simmonds was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
St. Edward's has fallen quite a ways from their 16-6 record last season and are now at 0-4. As for Pine, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-2.
St. Edward's is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Pineapple Cove Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Hopefully Pineapple Cove Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday. Pine won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Greenacres Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Allowing an average of 53.2 points per game, Greenacres Christian has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
