The Premont Cowboys will head out on the road to take on the Freer Buckaroos at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Premont fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 38-33 W over Ben Bolt on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Freer had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-23 victory over Ben Bolt at home. Freer's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Freer can attribute much of their success to Jayda Washington, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Samantha Barker, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Washington is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Bulter, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Premont's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12. As for Freer, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Premont ended up a good deal behind Freer in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 53-36. Can Premont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
